Common questions
A scan got some clues wrong
You check everything before a scan joins your puzzles. If something slipped through, open the puzzle and choose Correct it. Only whoever scanned a puzzle can, and the answer key is worked out again afterwards.
The answer key says I'm wrong, but I'm sure I'm right
Choose I'm sure beside the answer and AI judges whether it fits the clue. If it does, your answer counts and replaces the key's for everyone. You get one appeal per clue.
Why can't my friend see a puzzle I scanned?
Newspaper crosswords are copyrighted, so puzzles aren't open to everyone. Share one by starting a game and sending your friend the link, or by solving it and choosing Challenge friends.
Can I keep what I did as a guest?
Yes. Sign in any way you like, and your games and times move to that account.
How do I delete my account?
On your account page, from the menu under your photo. Your answers in games you played stay, credited to a "Deleted player", and everything else of yours is deleted.
How do I put CrossConnect on my phone's home screen?
On an iPhone, open it in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, Chrome offers to install it, or it's in Chrome's menu as Add to Home screen. It then opens like an app.
